Book

“Heaven’s Helper: My Little Star”, chronicles the extraordinary spiritual journey of Maureen Capistran and the unexpected mystical experiences that drew her closer to God. A driven and successful real estate professional in the Boston area, Maureen had little interest in matters of faith. Her focus was firmly on building a successful career. However, in 1989, her life took an unexpected turn when she began experiencing a series of frightening and unexplained events. She later came to understand these occurrences as demonic attacks, which continued to trouble her for seven years.

Keep the Focus on Jesus

After searching unsuccessfully for answers in many places, Maureen eventually returned to the Catholic Church. At her mother’s suggestion, she began praying the Rosary. During prayer, she experienced unusual phenomena, including the rosary beads becoming warm and vibrating in her hands. She also began hearing the audible voice of a gentle woman who told her that she had been chosen and would one day help people in need.

The voice eventually led Maureen to Father Aniello Salicone, a spiritually gifted Xaverian priest serving at a local shrine. After carefully discerning her experiences, Father Salicone believed her account to be genuine and affirmed that she had been called to serve God’s purposes. He explained that the gentle woman who had spoken to her was the Blessed Mother Mary, and that the spiritual attacks she had endured for years were attempts by Satan to hinder the mission God had prepared for her.

Father Aniello Salicone suggested whenever Maureen felt attacked to say the following powerful prayer, which he also prayed himself:

“Thank you Jesus for loving me as your number one. Please, help me to love You, others, and myself the way you love me.”

In other words, keep the focus on Jesus. Father Aniello became her spiritual director and told her she would soon be talking with Jesus and the Blessed Mother. For the next three years, Maureen was trained by Jesus and the Blessed Mother. When her training concluded she was assigned St. Michael the Archangel, to guide and help her with her mission.
As her gifts developed she would hear Jesus, the Blessed Mother and St. Michael audibly. (auricular locutions)

“Heaven’s Helper, My Little Star”

This inspiring book is filled with profound teachings that Maureen received from Heaven—messages that resonate with people of all faiths and backgrounds.

God revealed that her mission, should she choose to accept it, was to help souls return to Him. To fulfill this calling, she needed to shift her focus from worldly pursuits to a deeper relationship with God. Once she accepted the journey was not easy; it involved many tears, challenges, and moments of frustration as she learned to detach from material concerns and embrace the transformative power of God’s love.

As her faith deepened, extraordinary experiences began to unfold. Her gifts of knowledge, healing, and discernment emerged, and St. Michael gave her the nickname “My Little Star,” which inspired the title of this book.

Maureen assisted Father Aniello in his ministry for several years before being called to volunteer for ten years with children battling cancer. She later spent seven years assisting Father Joseph Whalen in his St. Raphael the Archangel healing ministry.  More information about this devotion can be found at St. Raphael Oil Ministry.

For more than twenty-five years, Maureen has faithfully served the Lord by ministering to and supporting His people.

“Heaven’s Helper, My Little Star” by Maureen Capistran is a spiritual memoir that recounts the author’s journey from being a driven, non‑religious real‑estate professional in the Boston area to becoming what she understands as a “messenger” guided closely by God, Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and St. Michael the Archangel. Written in a simple, first‑person style, it presents her mystical experiences and the teachings she that were given to her from Heaven to help people grow closer to God.

Core storyline

The book begins with Maureen’s earlier life focused almost entirely on career success and making money, with little interest in faith or spiritual matters. In 1989 she starts experiencing disturbing and frightening phenomena that she later interprets as demonic attacks, which continue for several years and push her to seek spiritual help.

Guided through prayer and a “gentle woman” she comes to recognize as the Blessed Mother, Maureen is led back to the Catholic Church and to a spiritual director, Fr. Aniello Salicone, who helps her discern that she is being called to a mission of helping souls. Over time she reports receiving auricular locutions (audible messages in her right ear) from Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and St. Michael, and the book records many of these encounters and the lessons she draws from them for all of us.

Themes and purpose

A central theme is learning to shift from a life centered on wealth and control to one centered on trust in God, sacrificial love, and service to others. The book emphasizes God’s personal love for each person, the importance of prayer (especially the rosary), and a call to return to or deepen one’s faith regardless of current spiritual background.
Another key theme is spiritual warfare—Maureen describes demonic harassment but deliberately keeps those episodes secondary so that the focus remains on Jesus, His mercy, and healing rather than on evil. She also describes receiving gifts such as knowledge, discernment, and healing, which she uses in ministry, including volunteer work she did with pediatric cancer patients and assisting priests with healing and deliverance ministries.

Style and audience

The narrative is presented as a straightforward journal or testimony rather than a theological treatise, with a conversational, “matter‑of‑fact” tone that some readers find disarmingly simple. Supporters often describe it as “simple yet profound,” saying that its directness makes the spiritual lessons accessible to ordinary readers.
The intended audience is broad but especially includes people who feel distant from God, are struggling with faith, or are curious about modern accounts of mystical experiences within a Catholic framework. Ministry descriptions highlight it as a book meant to encourage readers to recognize God’s nearness, grow in trust, and understand that one person’s “yes” to God—the “power of one”—can have a wide spiritual impact.
